Fall Fun!

Since the kids were out of school, I was off of work, and Matt didn't have to work on Friday night, we decided to take the kids "away" for the weekend. We got as far away as Salt Lake City--perfect for our little family. We stopped off at The Gateway and saw a Dinosaur show at the Imax Theater at the Planetarium. It was a little freaky and I closed my eyes a few times while I could feel the kids bodies tense all around me. Landon kept taking off his 3-D glasses or just covering them with both hands. Next time we will try the Bugs in 3-D, maybe not as scary but probably just as freaky. After a swim in the hotel pool and dip in the hot tub we decided to take the kids up, up, up to the Garden Room for dinner atop the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. The kids seemed to enjoy the view of the city and especially the temple from the vantage point we had so high up. Matt and I enjoyed the Fried Pickles appetizer. Yeah, you read me right, fried pickles. They were yum!

Then we were off to a night of awesomely fun entertainment. We took the kids to the Energy Solutions Arena to see "Star Wars in Concert." It was totally awesome and worth every penny we paid to see the show. Landon is totally obsessed with Star Wars and when we saw this opportunity we just couldn't pass it up.

We arrived to the show early to meet and greet with some of the characters from the shows. Landon loved the Storm Trooper from a distance, but not so much close up.

This is going on the front of our Christmas Card 2009. Darth was a little creepy and Chloe kept saying he was breathing really loudly right in her ear!
The show itself was awesome! It was the Star Wars Symphony Orchestra with the voice of C-3PO narrating and the lights and video were sweet! John Williams is a master and the music was just too, too good. We wouldn't let them leave the stage so they played the Star Wars Main Theme again for us as an encore. What an awesomely fun evening!

Saturday morning we used our Zoo Membership to go visit the Hogle Zoo and enjoy seeing all the new baby animals.
What a sweet little giraffe and a sweet little girl!
We saw the baby colobus monkey, 3 tiger cubs and the baby elephant Zuri.
We had a fun weekend with the kids and the weather was perfect for Fall Fun!
